At the heart of RATP Group’s CSR commitments

RATP Group’s new CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) policy, which was signed in June 2023, aims to reinforce our operations to address environmental, social, and societal challenges, against a backdrop of major environmental and climatic challenges and changes to the corporate world.

The Group’s social and environmental roadmap is based around three major principles.

Three major principles
Be a major player in mobility and sustainable cities
Accelerate the ecological transition in our business activity
Assert our social and societal responsibility

RATP Group is at the forefront of several social and environmental issues such as:

• The whistle-blower alert, a measure put in place to prevent conflicts and avoid strikes. It was established by RATP in 1996. The procedure was transcribed into French law in 2007;
• RATP was among the first companies to implement a carbon footprint report across its activities in 2006;
• Recueil Social is an organisation that has worked with the disadvantaged for over 30 years, providing them with support and assistance.

Addressing climate challenges

For many years, RATP Group has been working on reducing its carbon footprint and adapting to climate change.

  • Regarding the energy transition, the Group’s flagship project is the Bus2025 programme, whose goal is to convert the majority of the bus fleet operated by RATP to electricity and biomethane. This initiative involves 4,700 buses, 340 bus routes, and 25 bus depots. The project is the largest energy transition operation of a bus fleet in Europe. It is funded by Île-de-France Mobilités and the European Commission.
  • Water management is also among RATP Group’s major commitments set to reduce its environmental footprint. In line with the Group’s commitments to preserve resources and the Plan Eau (water scheme) published by French President in March 2023, RATP Group has published its own water-saving plan. The objective is to reduce its drinkable water consumption by 10% by 2030 (compared with 2022).

Asserting its social and societal responsibility

The Group is committed to numerous endeavours, including:

  • Access to housing: the cost of living and housing in the Paris region is a major obstacle to people wishing to join RATP’s workforce. For this reason, developing its employees’ housing offering at the heart of the city and close to their place of work is among RATP Group’s strong ambitions. By 2027, the Group aims to house 1,200 additional employee families each year and to diversify its employee housing support offering according to individual situations.
  • Regarding the quality of working life, the company has deployed exoskeletons which contribute to improving the quality of working life by providing relief to staff whose job involve musculoskeletal strain.

“CSR-committed” certification awarded with the “exemplary” level

RATP Group is decidedly committed to addressing CSR issues and climate change: in 2022, its “CSR-committed” label was renewed and the Group was awarded the “exemplary” level, which is the highest in the benchmark. The same year, the Science-Based Target Initiative (STBi) also validated RATP Group’s climate commitments. This means that they support the most ambitious objective of the Paris Agreement: to limit global warming to 1.5°C.

To highlight the five pieces of evidence selected for this campaign, a small team organised a shooting with the aim to combine form and substance by electing to make an eco-responsible production. The campaign photo production was awarded a 2-star Ecoprod label with a score of 81%. The Ecoprod label has been approved by the French government, and French ecological transition agency Ademe. The label has also been certified by independent organization Afnor.
