Project Overview

RATP Dev will operate and maintain the automated metro line, which will become the backbone of Western Sydney, linking the Western Sydney International Airport and the new city of Western Sydney Aerotropolis to the rest of metropolitan Sydney.

This project is part of the Sydney Metro programme, a transformative urban mobility project that will connect the city’s north-west, west, south-west, and Greater Western Sydney. As a result, by 2030 the city will have a network of four metro lines, 46 stations, and 113 kilometres of new metro track.

The automated metro will meet the world’s highest standards for safe, fast, and reliable travel. It will offer Sydney residents and visitors an environmentally friendly, passenger-focused service that benefits the whole city.

To achieve this, RATP Dev will bring its expertise in operating large-scale public transport networks with 5.6 million daily metro journeys, alongside 30 years of experience running fully automated metro lines across 10 networks worldwide.
