Serving the city

Contributing to a sustainable city and urban areas
In 2024, RATP Group continued its efforts to decarbonise the networks it operates, particularly in the Île-de-France region through its Bus 2025 programme, as well as in other parts of the world. As a committed player, the Group also leverages its expertise in related fields for the benefit of cities and their residents, turning all its operations into opportunities to make the city more resilient.

Building a low-carbon bus network
In 2015, the Group embarked on the Bus 2025 project. The ambition of this programme, initiated in partnership with Île-de-France Mobilités, with the support of the European Commission and the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations, is to convert the bus fleet operated by RATP in Île-de-France to electric and biomethane power by 2025, and to cut down related greenhouse gas emissions by 50%, which is equivalent to a reduction of 250,000 tonnes of CO2 compared to 2015. This is an ambitious challenge and a major technological breakthrough requiring the adaptation of 25 bus depots, and upgrades to a 4,800-bus fleet, while maintaining full passenger service. The goal is now within reach: by the end of 2024, 8 bus depots have been converted to electricity, and 10 have been transformed to accommodate biomethane buses. As for rolling stock, the Île-de-France fleet now includes over 1,000 electric buses and 1,300 biomethane buses.
The Bus 2025 project has enabled various innovative energy solutions to be tested in partnership with major industrial players. This has resulted in concrete advances, notably regarding smart charging. A programme on bus battery performance and their second life is currently under study. Following a successful trial, RATP has also launched two projects to operate hydrogen buses in Créteil and Bagneux on behalf of Île-de-France Mobilités.
Outside the Île-de-France region, projects are under way on several networks operated by RATP Dev, such as in Tuscany - where a fleet of 2,700 vehicles is operated - in which the acquisition of electric buses for the city of Florence has been announced. The same applies to the Txik Txak network in the Basque Country area, where the aim is to reach a 100% electric bus network by 2032.
Titus: a fully electric bus network in the Île-de-France region
Since summer 2024, the Titus network in Rosny-sous-Bois has been made up of new fully electric buses. Following an initial contract signed in 2013, RATP Cap Île-de-France was renewed for a further seven years in April 2024.
Solar power for bus depots
Solar panels are being installed on roofs and car park shades at five RATP bus depots in the Paris region, as part of the Solere project, run with the support of Île-de-France Mobilités. The aim of these photovoltaic installations is to cover 12% to 13% of the operating needs of the bus depots, excluding vehicle recharging.
Carbon neutrality at Tootbus by 2030
The subsidiary, which specialises in low-emission tourist buses and is present in London, Paris, and Brussels, has presented its 2024 climate plan to achieve carbon neutrality, in line with the commitments it made when it signed the Glasgow Declaration for Climate Action in Tourism in 2023. The company has notably pledged to operate a fleet of fully electric buses and to reduce its carbon footprint by 50% by 2030.
Main measures:
Continuing the conversion of the bus fleet in London and Paris (already over 35% of the fleet is electric or runs on biofuels). Initial results: a reduction in emissions of 1,808 tCO2e, i.e. around five times less than those of a conventional diesel bus fleet;
Installation of solar panels on the roofs of bus depots;
Rainwater recovery for bus washing;
Training drivers in eco-driving;
Digital sobriety through responsible digitisation.
Over 9,000
homes managed by RATP Habitat in the Île-de-France region.
AFNOR Label
In 2024, renewal of the AFNOR "Engagé RSE" label at the Exemplary level.
338,500 hours
of workforce integration carried out through dedicated clauses in service contracts.
Water sobriety and resource management

Nathalie Jarosz
Head of Water, Waste, Circular Economy, RATP Group
"Water conservation is at the heart of RATP Group's CSR strategy. That's why we have chosen to be proactive in managing our water consumption. The recovery of mine water is a key avenue to significantly reduce our consumption of drinking water".
9.7 million cubic metres per year
This is the volume of mine water that is pumped and discharged from underground networks (drainage water). RATP has committed to optimising their recovery as part of its water conservation plan.
Optimising real estate assets
The restructuring of maintenance centres, bus depots, and office sites in the Group's extensive real estate portfolio presents numerous opportunities to promote mixed-use developments in the city centre, blending industrial activities, housing, community facilities, and garden areas. This expertise is driven by RATP Solutions Ville, the subsidiary responsible for urban services (real estate, housing, energy, telecommunications, logistics, and new mobility). In early 2024, RATP Habitat completed the Netter-Debergue real estate project, providing 91 homes, a nursery and a public garden. In the north-east of Paris, the ongoing electrification of the Belliard bus depot is providing an opportunity for a complete site overhaul through a mixed urban project that includes family housing, a co-living residence, social housing, workspaces, shops, a community centre, and even a rock-climbing facility.
In October 2024, RATP Habitat also obtained ISO 50 001 certification. This certification is the result of optimised energy management of the rental stock. RATP Habitat has set the target of reducing its energy consumption by 6% between 2022 and 2026.

The Netter-Debergue real estate project welcomes its first residents
In January 2024, the first renters were able to move into the 91 social and intermediate housing units created as part of the Netter-Debergue real estate project, carried out by RATP Habitat, a subsidiary of RATP Solutions Ville, on a 5,000 m² vacant site in the 12th arrondissement of Paris owned by RATP. A 95-bed crèche and a new pedestrian walkway have also been built, and the adjacent public garden has been extended.
Low-carbon real estate: the Group launches a new development in Sceaux
In March 2024, RATP Group and its partner Woodeum, a specialist in timber construction, launched the construction of a new low-carbon residence of 66 housing units in Sceaux, near the Robinson RER station. The new building will meet the requirements of the new RE2020 threshold 2028 environmental regulations more than four years ahead of schedule. Delivery scheduled for 2026.
RATP Solutions Ville: meeting the challenges of the ecological transition in cities
A Group subsidiary, RATP Solutions Ville brings together a range of skills and expertise to help cities meet the many urban, social, and environmental challenges they face.
Its areas of expertise include:
the development of property projects and the creation of eco-districts, notably during the restructuring of RATP's bus depots, maintenance workshops, and tertiary sites;
telecom services, through a vast 170,000 km fibre-optic network deployed in the metro and RER rail infrastructure;
energy, with a range of clean energy and district cooling solutions;
urban logistics, with daytime storage areas in bus depots to facilitate last-mile deliveries using low-carbon vehicles;
new forms of mobility, with car sharing, self-service, shared parking and ultra-fast recharging services.
A Foundation to support public interest projects
For almost 30 years, the RATP Group Foundation has been committed to serving the general interest in the heart of the regions in which RATP Group operates. It supports projects designed to promote the integration into the world of work of urban dwellers in economically or socially vulnerable situations. It supports general interest initiatives that give these groups access to the city's resources and opportunities.
In 2024, RATP Group Foundation and RATP Dev Mobility Cairo took part in "Bridges of Opportunities", a project led by Samusocial International, for the social inclusion of 450 Egyptian children and young adults living on the streets. Specifically, this involved financial support provided by the Foundation as well as direct assistance to these young people from employees of the subsidiary.

Recueil Social RATP: 30 years of commitment
Since 1994, members of the RATP social support service, all volunteers and specially trained, have worked in close contact with homeless people across the RATP network, directing them to day centres or emergency accommodation, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
