EcoWatt Charter

Here are the main measures the company is set to take in the event of an electricity consumption peak. Details can be found in the press release at the end of the article.

• Minimise the electrical load between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. and between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
• Switch off digital advertising displays in stations on EcoWatt red warning days: this concerns 1,000 digital displays.
• Forward warnings to our customers on EcoWatt red warning days.
• Promote the adoption of eco-friendly habits during EcoWatt warnings.

Ecogaz Charter

RATP Group commits to reducing its gas consumption in the event of consumption peaks

On Thursday 20 October, RATP Group signed the Ecogaz Charter launched by GRTgaz, Ademe and Teréga and commited to reducing its gas consumption in the event of an Ecogaz red warning consumption peak.

In 2021, RATP Group consumed 270 GWh of gas, mainly for heating 115 (industrial and tertiary) buildings and for the 604 buses running on bioCNG. The Group has been working to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions for several years by implementing an ambitious policy, notably in terms of energy transition. Signing the Ecogaz Charter is in line with this approach.

Here are the main measures the company will take in the event of a gas consumption peak.

  • Promote the adoption of eco-friendly habits on our premises on Ecogaz orange and red warning days,
    notably by:

    • Forwarding the warning to internal managers responsible for operational site management to ensure that heating is used only as required. For several years, RATP has been committed to reducing energy consumption in its buildings. The company’s target for the end of 2024 is to reduce its energy consumption by 20% compared with 2015 (in kWh/m2). By the end of 2021, we had already achieved a 12% reduction in energy consumption for buildings.
  • Forward warnings to our customers on Ecogaz orange and red warning days, via:
    • the various communication tools available and encourage the public to sign up to the Ecogaz website via RATP Group digital media, ratp.fr website, the Bonjour RATP! and Mappy apps as well as the maRATP programme.
  • Forward warnings to RATP Habitat tenants on Ecogaz orange and red warning days, i.e. 8,677 homes in the Île-de-France region, via the various communication tools available and invite them to sign up for warnings via the Ecogaz website and inform them about Ecogaz in advance through the tenants’ newsletter.
  • Forward the warning to RATP Group employees by:
    • Encouraging employees to sign up to the dedicated Ecogaz website;
    • Communicating and promoting the Ecogaz scheme internally using the available media.

Marie-Claude Dupuis, Director of Strategy, Sustainable Development and Real Estate

Following our commitment to the EcoWatt scheme to reduce our electricity consumption during consumption peaks, it was important for the Group to do the same for gas by signing the Ecogaz Charter. This new commitment illustrates the energy conservation policy that RATP Group has been pursuing for many years. Energy is a major driver in our transition to carbon neutrality. In addition, we are the first multi-modal transport company to have obtained ISO 50001 certification for our energy management system”
