The project

RATP Dev will operate and maintain the automated metro, which is set to become the backbone of Western Sydney by connecting Western Sydney International airport and the new Western Sydney aerotropolis to the rest of Sydney.

The project is part of a wider Sydney Metro scheme that will transform mobility for the city of 6 million residents by connecting the North-West, South-West and Greater West areas of the city. With this project, the city will have a four-line metro network by 2030, with 46 stations and 113 kilometres of new metro tracks.

Once in service, the automated metro network will meet the highest global standards regarding safe, fast and efficient transport. The aim is to offer Sydney residents and tourists an environmentally friendly mobility solution that focuses on passengers and contributes to the city.

To this end, RATP Dev will bring its expertise in the operation of large-scale public transport networks with 5.6 million metro journeys operated each day and 30 years of experience in the operation of fully automated metro lines with 10 lines currently in service worldwide.
